I am still trying to decide if I want to buy or try and DIY a canopy.

I dont trust myself without a good set of plans, and I cant draw up a good set of plans.

Any suggestions or ideas, or anyone with the know how to show me how, let me know.
Or maybe a good place around Baton Rouge that will build to suit.

I'm actually about to embark on making one myself to please the parents.

I still want to hang it from the ceiling and have about a 1 1/2 ft. gap between the top of the tank and the canopy, but it may end up being suspended by "arms" that will attach to the walls instead.

I plan on using 1 x 1 pine for the frame and skinning it with 1/4" maple

I'll let you know how it goes!

theres ups and downs of either way im sure... my canopy makes it hard to reach into the tank and move things towards the bottom..and anytime the canopy is open or has a gap light splash comes out and covers the room..so its a toss up ... i built my stand and canopy...its not hard...just think about what you want and draw it out with measurements

To let my wife tell it...I am not that handy. Plus I do not have tools for this type of project.

Anyone want to trade my set of skills for carpentry skills, even trade?
