Got a new acro this weekend and noticed two crab hitchhikers. Don't have a pic yet but will try to get one. They are small, one about 1/4" wide at most the other smaller. Both are white with a black face. The black runs along the leading edge of the crab right across the eyes. Seem to only stay in the acro. Noticed this morning that one move over to another acro in the tank.

Are these guys safe or do I need to get them out of there??
    ID would be helpfull also.

  2. Hey Pettee =)

If you are lucky, you got 2 awesome commensal crabs (also known as bandits. They can be peach, pink, white or tan in color). They have a totally symbiotic relationship with the coral they live in, keeping it clean of nuisance algea and detritus.

Melev has a killer pic here. Good crab! And Reef Lounge had this nice pic.

The hairy crabs (I think they are also called gorilla crabs) are not reef safe. And will need to be removed.

Another ID pic from Melev's site. Bad crab!
