As suggested in April, this month's subject will be FISH

Give us your best shots of your favorite or not so favorite lil friends!

Like last month, the prize will be a Gift Certificate to Capital City Grill in Baton Rouge (anyone else with prizes they could donate? I don't mind doin G.C.'s but I can't do em every month, that'd get pretty old!)

Here's the plan- post ONE entry . . . May 20th will be the deadline to post a picture, at which time a new thread will be started to allow voting.
Voting will last until May 31st, at which time a winner will be chosen.

Use this thread to post your fish pics

    Good Luck!

Do you folks have specialized camera equipment. I can never get pics that good. Is there a secret when using a regular camera?
    Thanks

i have a sony cybershot f707.... not the greatest camera... the trick is getting a focus and waiting for the fish to swim into it... shoot with a shutter speed over 100 to avoid blur from the fish moving and any movement you might have... I like to shoot with the lowest apeture i can so i get a nice blurred out background and the highest shutter speed i can... the best way i've found to do this is to put your camera on the apeture mode and set it as low as you can go... another thing you can do to get your shutter speed up is to use spot metering... this keeps your camera from metering the exposure off of the background and instead meters it off of what you have in the "crosshairs"... this is also great for taking pics at concerts without a flash... hope this helps

  9. depending on the type of camera you have, sometimes your only options include putting the camera onto its "manual" setting, selecting the close range photo option (usually a flower icon) and hoping for the best....

also using a tripod will help dramatically

I will try to play with my camera a little and see what I get. I have a cybershot. It is a 5.1 megapixel so it takes good photos but I have not been able to get any good close ups yet.

    Thanks

  11. Sweet Pic dude! Looks like he just posed for the Camera! :)

  14. Well I was trying to get a nice pic of my Sohal but this guy won in my book. This pic shows two thing My Red Crown Algae Blenny and how to mount stray shrooms. I have about three of these, it just hangs over thedge and has a few pieces of rubble in it for the mushroom to mount to.
