Over the last few months I have been working with Pacific Sun USA (Felix and Rafal) http://pacificsunusa.com/ with its parent company Pacific Sun http://www.aquariumled.eu/shop/index.php to become a distributor of its LED products. Over the last few months many changes have been made to the new LED modular units the 90 BT EX and the 120 BT EX. Here are the specs for the unit

Detailed Info For PacificSun Modular Units:

Each lamp series BT-EX has a special built-in dedicated computer (Light Area Computer) that can support advanced light. The lamp is programmed wirelessly using a special application (via Bluetooth interface). This model has an external, waterproof power supply with safe, 24V DC output. The newest model is using two 120mm fans(17db) with double bearings. Their speed is auto controlled by a temperature sensor - so in some situations they can be turned off - especially when the lamp doesn’t need active cooling (night mode with moonlight, sunrise/sunset period etc).
This model has three LED bulbs - 420nm, 450nm and white 14.000K

- Natural Sunlight Simulation - lamp is able to simulate cloudy and sunny days - when using this option, the lamp simulates the effect of temporary cloudiness - as is the nature. For the summer season the days are longer and brighter, for the winter season - shorter and somewhat darker light(in the future the computer will be able to wirelessly control the heating in the tank, so that in summer the temperature in the tank will be higher in the winter - lower)

With this computer you can set:
- date/time
- setting turn on/off time, dimming time
- total brightness setting - e.g. for coral acclimation
- setting brightness for moonlight
- colour temperature changing - between 14.000K-25.000K
- Set the time sunrise and sunset times from 1minute up to 60 minutes
- simulating the lunar illumination (28 days full period), Natural Sunlight Simulation, Overcast Days Simulation
- changing brightness during the light period - like on nature, where isolation depend of hour. For the whole cycle of lighting, you can define up to 40 individual points of which is set by the brightness of the lamp, this gives the opportunity to simulate the lighting just like in nature.

These products with the Official Retail Launch of the PacificSun LED lamps in spring of 2010 will be available at a pre launch special introductory offer.

Units that are available for this Prelaunch Sale are:

90W Black Python Non Controllable Unit $599
90W Black Python BT EX Master Unit $869
90W Black Python BT EX Slave Unit $699

120W Black Python Non Controllable Unit $699
120W Black Python BT EX Master Unit $969
120W Black Python BT EX Slave Unit $799

Phobos 2x100W LED 2x39W T5 $1799
Phobos 2x140W LED 2x39W T5 $1999

Deimos 3x100W LED 3x80W T5 $2299
Deimos 3x140W LED 3x80W T5 $2499

All Information for the units are available at http://www.pacificsunusa.com

Thanks!

These lights have replacement parts and can be fixed here in the USA if anything were to happen. The warranty is 1yr for the housing and 3yrs on LEDs and PCB board.

Also if we get 10 or more units these prices will be reduced and even more money will be saved. This group order will end around the end of Febuary not sure of exact date. will keep everyone posted.

I am curious as a distributor of this product are you currently selling to any wholesale/online vendors who sell to the public?

Normally distributors dont sell to the public, unless of course there are no current wholesalers yet and you are just trying to bring it to market.

So, is there a website/storefront where these can be bought? Have you set one up yet?

Thanks!

Hey bobby

These units can be bought through me for the time being. I am awaiting mine on the next shipment at the end of February.

The official retail launch will be in spring of 2010. There are already many online retails in the US and the largest on in Canada that have orders in but will not be filled until the official release date for retail side. this is why we are considering this a Prelaunch sale to get the product out there but in small amounts and once the retail side is launched these prices will more then likely come up and have to be bought through the retailer.

Here is a screenshot for the controller and what kind of capabilities you have.

Image

Basic Settings:

Here you can set the sunrise time, maximum lamp brightness during the day, sunset time and maximum moonlight intensity. By clicking on the Probe/Detect button you can read the individual parameter values stored in the lamp’s computer. Click the Set button to save a defined value in the lamp’s memory.

Advanced Settings:

If you choose to unlock this option you will be able to configure the lamp in the advanced mode, as well as access the service settings – for example, fan speeds.

a) Colour Temperature (CT) - allows the user to change the hue temperature of the lamp by independently setting the actinic light channel brightness (together with the UVA diodes built in this section) and the daylight channel brightness. The brightness range of each channel can be set from 1 to 100%.

b) Moonlight settings – the lamp simulates moonlight, retaining the full, 28-day light cycle (in accordance with the real calendar). The maximum channel brightness for full moon can be configured in the basic settings section.

c) Seasons simulations – enabling this option the computer will use the pre-defined charts of the changes in brightness, length and characteristics of sunrise and sunset as well as the resultant hue temperature dependant on the season. In this mode the lamp can control the wireless heat/cool driver, thanks to which it raises the aquarium temperature during the summer and decreases it in the winter – thus simulating real yearly temperature changes in the Indonesian region.

d) Overcast days simulation – this option is responsible for simulating close-to-natural changes in light intensity and hue on a daily/monthly basis. The frequency of cloudy days depends on the actual season (summer/winter).

e) PAR programming – enables the simulation of light intensity changes during the day, programmed according to time and power on a light curve. The resulting light has the characteristics that are almost identical to natural sunlight, which eliminates the risk of burning or overexposing corals. Curve programming is done by giving two argument values for each point:

•time (hour) assigned to a given value, and
•brightness determined at a given moment. The user has 40 fields (points that determine the curve) at their disposal, which makes it possible to quite accurately obtain a characteristic similar to the one above.

f) Sunrise and sunset simulation options – here the length of sunrise and sunset is defined (in minutes).

g) Fan settings – the BT EX series lamps are equipped with an internal sensor measuring the temperature of the core which cools the LED diodes section, and a driver enabling a smooth change of the cooling fans speeds. The user can freely define the speeds depending on personal preferences, needs, and the position of the lamp (open tank, lighting hood/canopy, etc.). If the critical temperature is exceeded (because of a malfunction or damage to one or both fans)

Can you ask how hard it is to change out one of the LEDs if it burns out? I have worked on the Solaris before and it wasnt terrible, this light looks like better quality though.

right, Im just asking in case the end user would want to do a quick fix on something without having to send the light in

hey mike
i asked rafal and he said you can replace the bulbs yourself. I was told it is easy to do and it shouldn’t be a problem.

Until we get the video here are some PAR values that were sent to me.

PAR:

2” 1581
12” 551
24” 249

i will offer 30 days money back if someone can prove me wrong on PAR values are not what i said they were.

where else can you get a promise like that?
